To create a cache page, you must be logged in to the Admin panel. You log in using the username and password that you created when you registered with the site. Only Pro Members can create cache pages.
The easiest way to create a cache page is by using the +New button at the top of the Admin screen. Select Creation Cache. The Creation Cache UI has a number oif features to fill. Start by adding the title. Do this carefully, because any errors here may mean that the URL does not match the title.
Fill in any information you want for the description in the main editor panel. You can use images – though please make sure these do not spoil the fun of finding the cache. Optionally, add a short version of this to the lower “Short Description” editor box. Short descriptions are optional.
In the section headed OCWS Creation Cache Data, the site will already have assigned a date and a code number for the cache.
The longitude and latitude need to be filled in. Use degree-decimal format. If you have the coordinates in any other format, please convert using this site. Note that longitudes West of Greenwich will be negative. Latitudes south of the equator will be positive. US coordinates will therefore have negative longitudes and positive latitudes. I recommend using the Save Draft button at this point. This will cause the Google Map to be generated. If this map is blank, or just wrong, then you must have added your coordinates wrong!
Important: Please will you also check that you have filled in the Country and State sections. I am building a search system that will need this information. You also need to add the cache owner (which is your login name) and select the levels for difficulty (of finding) and terrain. Just estimate these on a scale of 0 to 5 (by 0.5).
Finally, please select what Cache Type is appropriate. Please do not add new cache types. If you think a new type is necessary, please send me a message.
Last of all, publish your creation cache. It will probably not appear on the site immediately, but will be held in a queue for someone to check. But hopefully your cache will appear on the site within a few days.
